Max Van Orden graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1992. He received his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1995, passed the Maryland Bar in December of that same year, and has been practicing law exclusively in the state of Maryland ever since. Mr. Van Orden regularly represents individual clients before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland, the Social Security Administration, the Workers’ Compensation Commission, and the District and Circuit Courts of Maryland. Currently, Mr. Van Orden is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives (NOSSCR).

Mr. Van Orden was born and raised in New York State. He moved to Maryland in 1989, and has lived and worked there ever since. Before embarking on his legal career, Max Van Orden served for four years as a military intelligence analyst in the United States Army, including an 18-month tour in the Republic of (South) Korea. From 1989, until he retired in 2008, he served in the United States Army Reserves, first as a strategic intelligence analyst and later, after receiving his commission in 2001, as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps.

A lifelong Marylander, Mr. Tolzman has a deep commitment to environmental causes, especially the restoration and preservation of the Chesapeake Bay. He enjoys fishing, boating, gardening and playing guitar. He is a Governing Member of the Baltimore Symphony and he resides in the Baltimore area with his wife, Karen.

Bryan J. Chant is a partner in the law firm of LeViness, Tolzman & Hamilton P.A.  Mr. Chant’s practice focuses on the litigation of high exposure personal injury, commercial general liability, and civil rights actions in state and federal court.

Mr. Chant graduated from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where he was an assistant editor of the William Mitchell Law Review.  In 2007, Mr. Chant was admitted to the bar of the State of Minnesota, where he practiced between 2007 and 2016.

Between 2007 and 2009, Mr. Chant was an associate attorney at a Minnesota law firm where he handled all aspects of automobile liability cases.  He also was involved in handling a national product liability case involving over 1,000 plaintiffs.  Between 2009 and 2016, Mr. Chant was a senior trial attorney for Liberty Mutual’s High Impact Unit (HIU), handling defenses with exposures in excess of $250,000.  In addition, Mr. Chant was the Regional Counsel for the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).  In his positions at Liberty Mutual, Mr. Chant was responsible for the defense of complex automobile, commercial vehicle, and product liability cases.  Mr. Chant also was involved in cases involving issues such as civil rights, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), and organized insurance fraud.

In 2016, Mr. Chant returned to Maryland to practice law.  Mr. Chant has extensive experience motion practice, deposition, and bench and jury trial experience in the district, circuit, and federal courts.

Mr. Chant is a Maryland native having grown up in Ellicott City and graduated from Wilde Lake High School.  Prior to law school, he was a lieutenant paramedic for the Ellicott City Volunteer Fire Department and a Contingent Firefighter Paramedic for the Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services.

Recreationally, Mr. Chant enjoys playing golf, fishing, and is an avid amateur radio operator.  Mr. Chant has a special interest in communicating via high speed Morse code.
